BATON ROUGE, La. – As a precautionary measure, the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) activated its Crisis Action Team (CAT) to monitor Tropical Storm Humberto in the Gulf of Mexico off the Texas/Louisiana coastline. The team will provide updates to our State and Parish partners as the storm develops and follows its projected path onto the Texas/Louisiana coastline.

Earlier today, Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco and GOHSEP hosted a Southwest Hurricane Task Force Conference Call to update the state agencies and parish partners on the developments of Tropical Storm Humberto. The CAT will monitor the storm 24 hours a day until the storm no longer posses a threat to Louisiana.

“We are monitoring Tropical Storm Humberto and will continue to hold conference calls with our State and Parish partners to assess the situation,” said GOHSEP Director Jeff Smith.  “I would like to remind our citizens to stay in touch with their local officials for updates as this tropical storm moves toward the Louisiana coast.
