BATON ROUGE, La.
– As a precautionary
measure, the
Governor’s Office of
Homeland Security
and Emergency
Preparedness (GOHSEP)
activated its Crisis
Action Team (CAT) to
monitor Tropical
Storm Humberto in
the Gulf of Mexico
off the
Texas/Louisiana
coastline. The team
will provide updates
to our State and
Parish partners as
the storm develops
and follows its
projected path onto
the Texas/Louisiana
coastline.
Earlier today,
Governor Kathleen
Babineaux Blanco and
GOHSEP hosted a
Southwest Hurricane
Task Force
Conference Call to
update the state
agencies and parish
partners on the
developments of
Tropical Storm
Humberto. The CAT
will monitor the
storm 24 hours a day
until the storm no
longer posses a
threat to Louisiana.
“We are monitoring
Tropical Storm
Humberto and will
continue to hold
conference calls
with our State and
Parish partners to
assess the
situation,” said
GOHSEP Director Jeff
Smith. “I would
like to remind our
citizens to stay in
touch with their
local officials for
updates as this
tropical storm moves
toward the Louisiana
coast.
