BATON ROUGE, La.
–
As a precautionary
measure, the
Governor’s Office of
Homeland Security
and Emergency
Preparedness (GOHSEP)
will activate its
Crisis Action Team
(CAT) at 1800 hours
to monitor a
disturbance off the
coast of Florida.
The CAT team will
provide updates to
our State and Parish
partners as this
disturbance develops
and moves westward
over the State of
Florida and into the
Gulf of Mexico.
Earlier today,
Governor Kathleen
Babineaux Blanco and
GOHSEP hosted a
Southeast and
Southwest Hurricane
Task Force
Conference Call to
update the state
agencies and parish
partners on the
developments of the
disturbed weather.
GOHSEP will monitor
the disturbance 24
hours a day until it
no longer poses a
threat to Louisiana.
“We will continue to
monitor this
disturbance as it
moves across Florida
toward the Gulf of
Mexico,” said GOHSEP
Director Jeff
Smith. “We will
also continue to
conduct our
Hurricane Task Force
Conference Calls
daily to make sure
that our state
agency and parish
partners have the
most up-to-date
information
regarding this
situation.”
