Elected officials and representatives from Region 1 emergency response agencies (the Parishes of Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard and Plaquemines) will hold a news conference on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 8 a.m. in the north side parking lot of the Joseph S. Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Parkway in Jefferson. 

The purpose of the news conference is to give an overview of the Southeast Louisiana Multiregion Hurricane Preparedness Functional Exercise that will be conducted on July 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During the exercise, Louisiana Region 1, Region 3 (the River Parishes) and Region 9 (Northshore) emergency response agencies and the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Operations Section staff will be activated in response to a simulated hurricane.
